You have always demonstrated your deep and persistent concern for the welfare of all life on Earth—both on a global and local scale.
You have worked tirelessly over the past year providing the essential communication about chapter and steering team events for the Network of Spiritual Progressives Minnesota. You have also promoted 350.org activities for the Orono community and continue to press the Orono City Council to create an environmental commission.
Your personal life exemplifies the principles you advocate. You live in a sustainable fashion by keeping a large garden from which you generously share the bounty. You use minimal fuel to heat your home, and you drive a hybrid car. You are an active member of the local food co-op, Harvest Moon.
You have developed a mailing list of your progressive friends, and you keep us all aware and engaged in petitions, rallies, and other activities for promoting peace, nurturing governance and protecting the environment. You have often provided that little nudge that has led many of us to write a letter, make a phone call, or just show up to advocate for a more loving generous culture.
We know your current extensive agenda of peace and social justice activities follows many years of partnership with Dick in spiritual organizing work in Rochester, New York; Seattle, and at the Standing Rock Reservation. We know what a strong team you were! And we know that service to others follows from the kind of person you are. We have felt the intensity of your attention to others, your strong presence, and your warm and open heart.
You personify the core values of the Sullivan Ballou Fund and the Network of Spiritual Progressives. Your kindness, respect, humility and “not so quiet” determination are an inspiration to all. We are immensely grateful for your friendship.Congratulations!
