You are exactly the kind of person whom the Sullivan Ballou Fund seeks to recognize and affirm. We have heard of your 21 years of heartfelt service at the Hennepin County Medical Center, especially in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and in the Cardiology Clinic. We have learned how you quickly develop a warm supportive relationship with your patients. They are real people to you, and you remember their birthdays and details about their families. You give them the emotional support, as well as the physical assistance, they need to function well.
At a time when financial pressures and emphasis on technology tend to push the human touch out of medical care, it is people like you who may be providing what is needed most by anxious and ill patients---nurturing from another human heart.
We also know that your love and support for others does not stop at the hospital, and how much of yourself you have cheerfully given to your extended family.
As with Sullivan Ballou, your example is beautiful because your actions flow straight from the heart, without thought of personal reward or self-interest. We are honored to learn of your work.
This Sullivan Ballou award is yours to use as you see fit--to support your work in some way, to obtain some training, or maybe just to pay some bills or have fun. You choose. We ask only that in six months you let us know how you used the award and how it has affected you.
Congratulations!
